Indian Walk-In Center
For over thirty years, the Indian Walk-In Center has addressed the specific needs of American Indian and Alaska Native individuals and families living along the Wasatch Front. We provide a wide range of wellness and social life-way services directly through our own programs and by working closely with many non-profit service organizations within our service area to meet our clients’ particular needs. Our Center also serves as the central gathering place for Indian community events such as Pow Wows, conferences, lectures and concerts. In everything we do, it has always been the Indian Walk-In Center’s mission to reinforce our family and community strengths, and to honor and reaffirm the cultural values and rich heritage of the Native peoples of this land.
Intermountain Healthcare is a nonprofit system of hospitals, surgery centers, doctors, clinics, and homecare and hospice providers that serves the medical needs of Utah and southeastern Idaho. Key medical services include cancer, heart, women and newborns, orthopedics, sports medicine, and more.
Pediatricians Against Secondhand Smoke
Pediatricians Against Secondhand Smoke (PASS) is a grassroots advocacy organization coordinated by pediatricians at the University of Utah and Primary Children's Medical Center. The PASS Initiative seeks to increase the effectiveness and knowledge of pediatricians in protecting children in disparate Utah communities from the effects of smoke exposure. The educational program is designed to help establish a practice-based strategy to implement evidence-based screening and counseling strategies for smoking cessation.
PASS is helping coordinate organization of the Utah Tobacco Prevention Task Force under the direction of CTFU and the Utah Department of Health. PASS also provides expert testimony in support of tobacco control legislation and was awarded the Anne E. Dyson Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics for development of the PASS Initiative.
Salt Lake City Mayor’s Coalition on Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs
The mission of the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Coalition on Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs, is to reduce substance use and abuse among youth and adults. Through the collaboration of our diverse membership, we advocate for evidence based practices and guide the development of policy and legislation, thereby creating a community where effective education, prevention, treatment, recovery and justice are provided without stigma.
Utah Dental Hygienist Association
The purposes of this Association shall be to improve the oral health of the public; to advance the art and science of dental hygiene; to maintain the highest standards of dental hygiene practice; to represent and protect the interest of the dental hygiene profession; to improve the professional competence of the dental hygienist; to foster research in oral health; to provide professional communications; and to conduct other activities as may be permitted by the State of Utah to carry out the purposes of this Association.
